Tour Savannah, The City Built Upon Her Dead
Dive Into Savannah’s Supernatural History
Join Psychic Medium Celena Adams for a tour through historic Laurel Grove Cemetery with a history as just as interesting as its inhabitants.
By the 1840s, Savannah’s downtown cemeteries were nearing capacity, and with Savannah’s acquisition of Springfield Plantation in 1850 they set aside 100 acres for a new modern cemetery. Dedicated in 1852, the cemetery was named Laurel Grove after the majestic native laurel trees that once grew in the area. The northern portion of the land was reserved for white Christians, the center portion for Jews, and the southern portion for slaves and free persons of color.
Honoring Savannah’s rich history, the tour of Laurel Grove guides you through the tombs of the city’s most famous and infamous historical figures. Step beyond the iron gates and experience the hauntingly beautiful past of Savannah.
